Carl Martin Post was born about
1825. His parents were Peter Post and Dorothea Friederike Ebert.
He lived in Drosedow-Wachholzhagen, Kreis Kolberg, Pommern at the time of his
marriage to Sophie Friederike Wilhelmine Brendemühl at
the Evangelical Church in Carnitz, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern on 6 March 1846.
the marriage record indicated that Carl Martin Post was 21 years old. He
apparently died before 1887, at which time his wife, Sophia, emigrated to
the United States with their daughter and grandson.
Sophie was born on 18 September 1814 in
Neides, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. She was the daughter of Jochem
Brendemühl and Anna Dorothea Hanna Mintzlaff. Her first
marriage, on 2 May 1839, to Martin Friedrich Krohn had ended in a divorce.
Sophia's ancestors lived in the area of Neides from the time that the
church records began in the mid 1700's.
The following children were born to the
marriage of Carl Martin Post and Sophie Friederike Wilhelmine Brendemühl.
Johann Carl Friedrich Post was born 1
August 1845 in Nitznow, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. He married Friederike
Brendemühl in about 1873; she died prior to 1888. Two children were born to
their marriage: Julius Richard
Friedrich Post was born 18 November 1875 and Anna Marie Post born 17 September
1877. They were both born in Broitz, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. After his first
wife's death, Johann Carl Friedrich Post married Wilhelmine Borck in
about 1889. Wilhelmine Borck was born on 22 June 1859 and died about 1936. Four children were born to their marriage: Martha Post
was born on 17 December 1885, Otto August Post was born on 17 January
1887, Robert Richard Post was born on 27 March 1890 and died on 14 August
1917,
and Emil Richard Otto Post was born on 11 March 1894. Otto August
and Emil Richard Otto Post emigrated to the United States, except Robert Richard who was killed on
14 August 1917 in World War I. Martha married Walter Mintzlaff and
stayed in Pommern. Her husband was killed in World War II and all contact
with her ended at that time.
Caroline Wilhelmine Auguste Post was
born on 22 February 1848 in Nitznow, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. She
emigrated to Watertown, Wisconsin and married Franz Friedrich Wilhelm Staffeil on 15 April 1888 at Saint
Stephens Lutheran Church in Ixonia, Jefferson County, Wisconsin.
Johann August Friedrich Post was born
4 July 1851 in Nitznow, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. He died on 24
September 1852 in Nitznow.
Bertha Karoline Friederike Post was
born 2 September 1855 in Nitznow, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. Her first
marriage, in about 1875, was to Gustav Neumann. A son, Carl Julius
Neumann, was born on 2 November 1879, somewhere in Pommern. In 1887,
Caroline, Bertha and their mother, Sophie Friederike Wilhelmine (Brendemühl)
Post immigrated to Watertown, Wisconsin. Bertha married Franz
Ernst August Ehlers on 26 February 1889 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She
later moved to the Greenwood, Clark County area of Wisconsin.
