Johann Friedrich Schmidt was
born about 1770. Neither the record of his birth, nor his baptism, were
found. He was identified through the baptismal and marriage records of
some of his children. The Gross Raddow church records prior to
1805 were destroyed or lost during World War II and in the expulsion of
the German people following the war. According to the baptismal record of
his daughter, Hanna Charlotte Henriette Schmidt, who was born on 6 December
1807, and also according to the marriage records of several of his daughters,
Johann Friedrich Schmidt was a "Böttchermeister," or master cooper,
in Gross Raddow. Johann Friedrich Schmidt's birth year was assumed
to be about the same as that of his wife. The death record of Johann
Friedrich Schmidt was also not found, but he was listed as still being alive at the time of
the marriage of his daughter, Albertine Julianna Louisa Schmidt, marriage on 6 May
1847.
It is assumed that Johann Friedrich
Schmidt married Henriette Sophie Fleischfresser in about
1795. Her death and burial was recorded at the Evangelical Church in
Gross Raddow on 19 December 1846 at the age of 74 years 6 months and 18 days;
which dates her birth as 1 May 1772. Since no birth or marriage records
were found, it was not possible to identify the parents of either Johann
Friedrich Schmidt nor that of his wife, Henriette Sophie Fleischfresser.
These children were found to be children of Johann Friedrich
Schmidt and Henriette Sophie Fleischfresser. All except Hanna Charlotte
Henriette Schmidt were identified through their marriage records in the
Evangelical Church at Gross Raddow, Kreis Regenwalde, Pommern, Prussia.
Hanna Christina Henriette Schmidt was born about
1800. She married Johann Friedrich Wolfram on 26 May
1831 at the Gross Raddow Evangelical Church.
Regina Louise Schmidt was born about 1803. She
married Herr Roloff about 1820 at the Gross Raddow Evangelical Church;
this record was missing.
Dorothea Maria Schmidt was born about1805. She
married Johann Gottlieb Salzwedel on 20 November 1827 at the Gross Raddow
Evangelical Church.
Hanna Charlotte Henriette Schmidt was born on 6 December
1807 and was baptized at ;the Gross Raddow Evangelical Church. She
married Carl Heinrich Brehmer on 10 January 1832 at the Gross Raddow
Evangelical Church. She died on 26 December 1866 and her funeral was at
the Gross Raddow Evangelical Church.
Joachim Wilhelm August Schmidt was born about about
1814. He married Dorothea Maria Zahn in September of 1848 at the
Evangelical Church at Grünhorst, Kreis Naugard, Pommern. The announcement
was made at the Gross Raddow Evangelical Church.
Johanna Caroline Wilhelmine Henriette Schmidt was born
about 1816. She was married on 10 May 1838 at the Evangelical Church in
Gross Raddow to Christian Friedrich Schünke.
Albertine Julianna Louise Schmidt was born about 1821
and married Adam August Wilhelm Jaedes at the Evangelical Church in
Gross Raddow on 4 June 1847.
